Live now at /tools/contractor-rate-calculator. Enter a target annual income, weeks off, billable utilisation, business expenses and self-funded super, and it returns the hourly, daily and weekly rate you'd need to charge to hit it — with GST optionally layered on top.
The point it makes: the rate has to cover the hours you can't bill. At 75% utilisation a quarter of every working week earns nothing, so it gets priced into the rest. It's the contractor-side companion to the Employee Cost Calculator, and runs entirely in the browser.
