Educational Services (Schools) General Staff Award
Covers general (non-teaching) staff in the school education industry. Excludes teachers, principals, deputy principals, bursars / business managers and members of recognised religious teaching orders. Single sector with nine categories of general staff (boarding supervision, classroom support, curriculum / resources, instructional, nursing, preschool / childcare, school admin, school operational, wellbeing). 8 levels with pay points within levels (1.1 / 1.2 / 1.3, 2.1 / 2.2 etc). Standard rate Level 3.1.
Fully built. Rates, allowances, penalties and any required apprentice / junior rates are all wired to the rate resolver and have been verified against the consolidated award text and the latest pay guide.
What's built
- All 17 pay-point rates across the 8 levels at the July 2025 figures.
- Junior rates (Levels 1 and 2 only): 5 age bands at 50 / 60 / 70 / 80 / 90%.
- Apprentice rates anchored to Level 3.1 weekly rate, pre-2014 / post-2014 with Y12 split.
- 10 allowances ($920.47 sleepover annual, $3.84 etc.) with first-aid annual and sleepover stored as percentages of standard rate per Schedule C.1.
- 13 penalty rows scoped by operational group via engagement_code.
- Six different spans of ordinary hours by operational group (cl. 14.6).
- RDO accruals at 24 minutes per 8-hour day worked, max 12 RDOs in any 12 months.
Known limitations
No outstanding gaps at this revision — re-verify on the next Fair Work pay-guide release.
Setup & special instructions
- Casual OT direction is OPPOSITE to the MA000112 default — cl. 21.2 NOTE specifies casual loading is ADDED on top of FT/PT OT rates (175 / 225 / 225 / 275%). Resolver code making MA000112-style assumptions will produce wrong rates here.
- Boarding supervision on 12-month averaging gets the annual rate paid throughout the year and is DISAPPLIED from cl. 12 (LWP non-term weeks), 14.8 (RDOs), 15 (shiftworker hours), 21 (overtime) and 22 (penalty rates) per cl. 14.5.
- Movement up a pay point within a level requires a 12-month performance review (cl. 17.2).
- Ordinary-hours span varies by operational group — assign the right group on each employee to drive the right span.
