Educational Services (Post-Secondary Education) Award
Covers the post-secondary educational services industry — VET teaching to AQF, ELICOS / TESOL, LOTE, English literacy / numeracy, migrant English, community / adult education, undergraduate / postgraduate teaching outside universities, foundation / bridging programmes, and student union employees. Three classification streams: Academic Teachers (Schedule A), Teachers and Tutor / Instructors (Schedule B) and General Staff (Schedule C). Standard rate is General Staff Level 2.1.
Fully built. Rates, allowances, penalties and any required apprentice / junior rates are all wired to the rate resolver and have been verified against the consolidated award text and the latest pay guide.
What's built
- All 17 General Staff sub-pay-points across Levels 1-7 plus the Academic Teachers and Teachers / Tutor-Instructors classifications.
- Junior rates: 6 bands at 45 / 50 / 60 / 70 / 80 / 90% per cl. 16.3, with proper under-16 rate row (50%) using the new junior_under_16 enum.
- Hours-of-work setup with the academic-teacher / teacher-tutor work-time multipliers (e.g. 1h lecture delivery = 3h work; 1h tutorial delivery = 3h work; 1h repeat within 28 days = 2h work).
- Sessional employment for teaching staff (cl. 12.1) — engaged 4-40 weeks/year on FT or PT basis with pro-rata pay / conditions; continuous service preserved if gap ≤ 8 weeks.
- Six different spans of ordinary hours by operational group, plus the meal-skip 200% rate (cl. 15.3(d)).
Known limitations
No outstanding gaps at this revision — re-verify on the next Fair Work pay-guide release.
Setup & special instructions
- Each employee must be assigned a stream — academic_teachers, teachers_tutors or general_staff — to drive the right rate scale and span of hours.
- Excludes secondary schools, universities (covered by Higher Education Industry awards MA000006 / MA000007) and labour-market-assistance employers.
- Annualised hours for academic teachers and teachers / tutor-instructors (up to 12 months) — when annualised, breaks (cl. 15) and overtime (cl. 20) DO NOT apply per cl. 14.4.
- Casual minimum engagement differs by stream: 3h for general staff, 2h for teachers / tutor-instructors.
