Racing Clubs Events Award
Industry award for staging events at horse and greyhound racing venues — thoroughbred, harness, trotting and greyhound racing clubs. TWO distinct classification streams: other-than-liquor (cl 13: Introductory + Grade 1-4 Racecourse Attendant + Grade 1-4 Raceday Official, FT/PT/casual) and liquor (cl 14: bar attendants/cashiers/glass pickers, CASUAL ONLY with all-inclusive day-of-week tier rates absorbing casual loading + weekend/PH penalties + AL equivalents). Standard rate = Grade 4 Racecourse Attendant $1,068.40/wk. Distinctive features include night cleaning casual at 155% all-inclusive (no ord hrs / OT applies), PH-by-agreement 150% + day off in lieu alternative, casual reporting min 4h pay if not allowed to start, casual non-racing-day inquiry attendance min 2h + expenses, clerk-of-the-course own horse/saddlery extra 2h pay/engagement.
Fully built. Rates, allowances, penalties and any required apprentice / junior rates are all wired to the rate resolver and have been verified against the consolidated award text and the latest pay guide.
What's built
- All 9 cl 13 other-than-liquor classifications + 2 cl 14 liquor classifications at corrected July 2025 figures (PR786551 ppc 1Jul25): Introductory $24.28/hr → Grade 4 Raceday Official $30.68/hr; Liquor adult $34.84/hr Mon-Sat / $47.14 Sun / $58.97 PH; Liquor under-19 $27.86 / $37.72 / $47.18.
- Cl 12.4-12.5 liquor day-of-week all-inclusive rates encoded as separate AwardPenalty rows with multiplier ratios against Mon-Sat (Sun adult ratio 1.353, PH adult ratio 1.693). Min 4h payment per engagement.
- Cl 11.7 night cleaning casual 155% (= 25% casual + 30% shift, all-inclusive 11pm-7am window). Cl 15 ord hours and cl 21 OT do NOT apply.
- Cl 21 OT: FT/PT 150% first 2h / 200% after; Casual loading-inc 175% / 225% (cl 21.3). Cl 11.6 Casual Sun 200% / PH 250%. Cl 22.2 FT/PT Sun 200% / PH 250% min 4h.
- Cl 22.2(c) PH-by-agreement 150% + day off in lieu within 28 days (or PH-week off / pro-rata for part-day) — alternative penalty row PH_FTPT_BY_AGREEMENT.
- Cl 11.5 casual reporting min 4h pay if not allowed to start; cl 15.5 casual non-racing-day inquiry attendance min 2h + reasonable expenses.

- Cl 15A right to disconnect from 26Aug24 (small-business 26Aug25 — D14).
- 4 pay conditions: Full-Time / Part-Time / Casual / Casual (Liquor). PT min 4h consecutive, 8 days off per 4-week period (cl 10.5/10.8).
Known limitations
- Liquor day-of-week tier rates (D3) encoded as separate AwardPenalty rows with multiplier ratios — resolver must detect liquor sector and apply the all-inclusive tier rate (NOT compound penalty + loading on top).
- Night cleaning 155% (D6) is a fully-absorbed rate — resolver must NOT apply ordinary hours / OT / weekend / PH penalties on top.
- PH by-agreement (D9) requires runtime selection between 250% standard OR 150% + day-in-lieu. Stored as both penalty rows; HR/payroll picks at PH event.
- Inquiry attendance (D8) cannot be expressed as a standard penalty — configured as `casual_inquiry_min_hours=2`. Resolver triggers 2h ord rate + expenses when casual attends inquiry on non-racing day.
- Horse/saddlery + riding apparel (D10) stored as $0 placeholder allowance rows — actual amount = N hours × min hourly rate, computed at engagement time. Riding apparel offers EITHER reimbursement OR 1h pay (employer choice).
Setup & special instructions
- Standard rate = Grade 4 Racecourse Attendant $1,068.40/wk = $28.12/hr (cl 2 def).
- TWO classification streams: other-than-liquor (FT/PT/casual permitted) and liquor (CASUAL ONLY — cl 14.2). Choose at hire.
- Liquor employees use ALL-INCLUSIVE day-of-week tier rates (cl 12.4-12.5) — do NOT apply casual loading on top, do NOT apply weekend/PH penalty on top. The rate IS the loaded rate.
- Liquor casuals still get OT per cl 21.3 (cl 12.10 — overtime IS payable in addition to all-inclusive day rate).
- Casual reporting min 4h pay (cl 11.5) if reports for work and not allowed to start.
- Night cleaning 11pm-7am casual = 155% all-inclusive (cl 11.7). NO ordinary hours / OT applies.
- Casual non-racing-day inquiry attendance: ordinary rate min 2h pay + reasonable expenses (cl 15.5).
- Public holiday alternative: by agreement, 150% + equivalent paid time added to AL (within 28 days) OR one day off in PH week (cl 22.2(c)) — instead of 250% min 4h.
- 5 default super funds per cl 20.4 PR794711 ppc 23Jan26: AustralianSuper, HOSTPLUS, Australian Retirement Trust, AMP Super Fund, CareSuper.
- Right to disconnect (cl 15A) effective 26Aug24 / 26Aug25 small-business. No award-specific exception.
- Wet work footwear $6/meeting capped at $12/wk; not payable when employer supplies waterproof footwear (cl 19.3(a)).
